My 3 Storybook Favorites

The Beautiful Truth

This storybook caught my attention because I have heard the phrase the beautiful truth before. It is about being beautiful and how other people see, and it may not be how you truly are. The introduction interested me because it made me want to know about the person who was talking. The layout of the page didn't really grab my attention it was just plain and didn't scream beauty. It is easy to find my way around the page, each story is labeled clearly. There could have been more pictures, I like pictures cause they tell a visual story.

Adventures in Wonderland

The topic of this storybook is something I am familiar with, and enjoy very much. Alice In Wonderland is a story I am familiar with, and I love it. I think this title does a good job because it talks about wonderland, and each characters individual adventures with the "human" Alice. The intro really interested me because it gave a good insight of what the stories are ultimately going to be about. The design of the page is set up good, easy access to all the stories. The pictures were good but a few did not work right, and one said it wasn't linked right.

Which is the Real Cinderella?

I am familiar with the story of Cinderella which is ultimately why I chose this storybook. The title is pretty straight forward, there is more than one girl that could be Cinderella so which one is it? The different quotes in the introduction gives a good story line of how the stories are going to go, which made it more interesting to me. I like the design of the page, the sparkles in the back ground really make me think of Cinderella. The pictures used caught my eye they showed where Cinderella truly comes from.

What I find interesting in the UnTextbook

The Monkey King Sun Wu Kung:

I love to read about anything that I have never heard of before, and the Monkey King is something I have never heard of. Another thing that caught my attention would be the word monkey, I love monkeys so anything to do with them is something I am interested in. What drew me into it when reading about it was the very first part of this unit being about his "miraculous" birth and how he later rebelled. Anyone who is going to rebel against what is the norm is interesting to me, and I look forward to finding out more about it.

Through the Looking-Glass:

Alice in Wonderland has always been one of my favorite novels that were turned into a movie. This unit is the sequel to Alice in Wonderland and I believe it has a lot of things I never even knew about. I see Alice in Wonderland as an adventure, and this unit will just add to that adventure for me. All of the characters that are involved, excite me and there is so much to learn from it.

Adam and Eve:

This unit interested me because I like the thought of Adam and Even, but I do not know much about the two. I am not familiar with the bible at all, and only know hear say about the two. Comparing what I know to what is told in many different stories is what I want to be able to do when reading this unit. It will be a good way for me to familiarize myself with something so many know and talk about.

Arabian Nights:

Aladdin is the first thing that came to mind when I read the title of the unit, and sure enough there will be a story about him in there. I remember watching the movie when I was younger, and would love to some how make a connection with the stories that are out there about it. Reading things I find interesting will keep the class interesting to me, and will also teach me more.

Nursery Rhymes:

I chose this because I have heard many nursery rhymes over my life, and want to know more. They are all interesting in their own ways. I like that I will be able to read so many of them because they are so short in length.

A wall full of books

I chose this picture because whenever I think of the UnTextbook, I think of a bunch of books just lined up along the wall floor to ceiling. I like the idea of the UnTextbook because there are so many options all in one place.

Week 1 Storytelling: The Travelers And The Purse

The Travelers and The Purse

Two young men lost and alone were traveling down and dark cold road one night. Not sure where they were, they felt as if this could be one of the worst days of them all. Arguing the whole time about the way the other wanted to go they did not know when it would come to an end. If being cold wasn’t enough for these two they were hungry on top of it with no money or belongings at all to trade for food. One of the men saw something shining in the distance, something bright was in the path and he was curious as to what it was. A purse! The man said, I wonder what is inside, as it was very heavy. One lucky fella I am to have found this beauty, filled with money, food, jewels, and many other goods. The other man was not happy with the way his partner in the long cold walk claimed the purse all to his own, and informed the other man they both found the purse they should both get to claim it. They are both just as lucky as the other, well the man who initially picked it up did not agree with this. Since he picked the purse up it was his and he was not going to share. Just as he was saying this to the other man, they heard something in the distance. HALT! Do not move that is our purse, and you cannot have it! There were so many people coming after them for the purse, the man who found it was not sure what to do! He looks to his partner with a scared look on his face, and tells him if they catch us we will just let them know we got lost and were hungry. No, no, no says the man who did not find the purse. YOU found it and YOU are lost, there is no we so you better get to running before they catch YOU!

A Few Of My Favorite Places

One of my absolute favorite places to be is at Owen Stadium in the fall with 85,000 fans screaming for one reason: Oklahoma Football! My family has had season tickets for as long as I can remember. There is no other feeling like it, it is an adrenaline rush like no other. Every year I look forward to the fall, because fall means football and I love football!
