Reading Diary A: Persian Tales

Persian Tales

The Wolf and the Goat:

  • At the beginning of the story it said there was no one but god, but the next line talks about there being a goat with children. Maybe the writer meant no humans...hmmm
  • I like how the mother used a secret code with her children for opening the door
  • I wonder how long henna has been around because I have gotten henna tattoos before, and this story was written along time ago
  • I like how there are rhymes used within the story
  • The wolf thought he was tricky, but really he didn't fool anyone
  • The wolf thought he was smart in the beginning listening in on the conversations but the goat out smarted him in the end and the wolf ended up dead
  • What did the writer mean by the sparrow never got home?
The City of Nothing-in-the-World:
  • I see a reoccurrence of the first line
  • I think its funny how in these stories people just know things, like how in the world do they know the things they know. The girl in this story some how knows what her eggs she dropped turned into
  • Where do these writers come up with this kind of stuff, she lost her knife in the melon so she went in to get it and there was a town in there
  • I must not have a very good imagination cause there is no way I could come up with this stuff
  • Story made no sense, and the sparrow never got home again
Susku and Mushu:
  • Why did the Susku say to get married twice, or was that a mistake?
  • Why would Susku ask Mushu what he would beat her with, was that normal to be beat back then?
  • Susku fell into the pot
  • Someone new comes into the story every time and just adds to it
  • Why would all these things do something bad to themselves just because Susku fell into the pot

The Boy Who Became a Bulbul:
  • This is the first time I have heard of a stepmother in older stories
  • What a loser of a father to steal from his sons pile
  • And why would there be such a high wager, someones life is a lot
  • This story is freaking weird
  • He got his revenge on the step mother thats for sure
  • Yep don't really understand this story either
The Wolf Aunt:
  • The old woman in this was wearing a weird choice of clothes
  • He had a newly discovered sister
  • The woman that was the mans sister turned into a wolf, and ate humans
  • The woman brought the man and his family there to fatten them up so he could eat them
  • The mother did the smart thing and left with her children
  • I LOVEEEEEE the moral of this story, always listen to your wife
Nim Tanak, or Half-Boy:
  • The king had 4 wives but no daughters
  • The wife who ate half the apple, had a half son
  • The Div conquered the first and 2nd army
  • The half-boy saved the day!
Muhammad Tirandaz , The Archer:
  • Why would he catch his mother by the collar?
  • Why in these stories do the people say the same thing over and over again
  • Kind of annoying and kind of catchy
  • He became the archer he thought he was supposed to be
  • only by working at it and doing what he was supposed to
The Praying Baker:

  • I like how the people always do what the king says to do
  • And the king always gives a large reward
  • The baker found the ring and was given the large reward
  • Still no Sparrow
The Sad Tale of the Mouses Tail:
  • I am not a fan of when they add and add to something and just keep repeating it
  • The mouse really wanted his tail sewed on
  • The dang sparrow never got home, maybe in reading B it will
